Movie Review - The Dictator

Anyone familiar with Sacha Baron Cohen's body of work knows he is guaranteed to offend so it's no surprise that The Dictator does just that.  It offends... in spades.  There's gross out jokes, toilet humor, ironic jabs, witty one-liners, situational comedy, shock tactics, cultural satire, so on and so forth.  Yet, somehow, a bit of the biting edge has been lost, possibly due to the political aspect and the topic of terrorism being a touchy subject.  It doesn't reach the level of the phenomenon that was Borat but it still delivers guffaws and grimaces as the presence of the lowest common denominator brand of humor is bound to tickle someone's funny bone.

The plot of the Dictator is given away at the trailer as the horribly incompetent Admiral General Aladeen is replaced by an imposter.  He is exposed to different perspectives and views as he is reduced to a common worker in New York.  As the movie is a comedy, the story doesn't have to make sense.  I do have to zero in on the dodgy character of scientist but it's a spoiler so I'll post it below.

What's the worst of the worst in terms of being the most offensive in the movie?  There's a more than a few that raises red flags but mentioning them would be spoilers.  I suppose it could be the pregnancy or the sex or the prostitutes or the guest stars or the feces or the window slamming or the STD testing or the body desecration (need I go on?) but the bit we, as a people, should watch out for would be when Sacha Baron Cohen tries to imitate Filipinos, haha.  Either way, The Dictator is good for a laugh for an hour and a half..

SPOILERS on some bit of the Aladeen's rule.

It's a little inconsistent that the scientitst Nadal would decide to help the man who tried to have him killed but I suppose I get this mindset.  If someone takes your life's work away from you, you might make a deal with the devil himself to complete it.  Especially in the mind of results obsessed scientists.

It's funny how one could root for or against Ben Kingsley.  He's really been typecast as playing evil masterminds now.

I wonder if Anna Faris' armpit hair is authentic, LOL!  That... scene in the garden is the worst, LOL!
